The Honor Chain of Albania [Ehrenkette von Albanien] was instituted on 3 December 1925 and awarded exclusively to heads of state. The only Albanian recipient was King Zogu I of Albania.
The chain has the following appearance: In the middle are two crossed, inverted golden swords, firmly connecting two links which are otherwise joined by small chains. These links are formed from two crossed golden laurel branches, bearing a silver five-pointed star at the centre. On both sides is a gold, red-enamelled double dragon, whose head is not enamelled. After that, two laurel-and-star links follow on each side, and so on. The chain contains a total of 14 stars on the laurel branches and seven double-headed eagles.
In the middle, between the crossed swords, hangs a silver five-pointed star, with a gold, black-enamelled double-headed eagle attached to it, with gold heads and claws. At the centre of its chest is a dark red-enamelled shield of arms, showing the golden helmet of Skanderbeg in front of three crossed cannon barrels and four flags.
