The “Veteran of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan” Medal consists of a circular plate, 35 mm in diameter, cast in bronze with a narrow plate bearing a national ornament and silver-plated. In the center of the medal is a relief depiction of the emblem of the Armed Forces. Above the emblem, along an arc, are engraved the words “Republic of Azerbaijan,” and below, on a ribbon, the words “Veteran of the Armed Forces.”

The crescent, star, and ribbon are white. The reverse has a smooth surface. The medal is attached by a ring and loop to a 27 mm x 43 mm rectangular moire ribbon with a fitting for attaching it to clothing. On the moire ribbon, against an olive-colored background, vertical stripes in the colors of the branches of the Armed Forces are depicted in sequence from the edges toward the center: olive and white stripes 1 mm wide, and blue and white stripes 3 mm wide. A 27 mm x 9 mm bar covered with the same moire ribbon, with a fitting for attaching it to clothing, is included with the medal.
