Médaille pour actes de courage, de dévouement et d'humanité

The Medal for Acts of Courage, Devotion and Humanity already existed during the period of Dutch rule that Belgium experienced under the reign of King William from 1815 to 1830.

Independent Belgium continued its promulgation under Dutch law and then instituted its own Royal Decree from 1831 onward.

There is a Royal Philanthropic Society of Medalists and Decorated Persons of Belgium for Acts of Courage, Devotion and Humanity, which was founded in 1865. It is Belgium’s oldest patriotic society.
