Order of Academic Palms

The Order of Academic Palms (Burkina Faso) (French: Ordre des Palmes Académiques) is an honour awarded in Burkina Faso, established in 1998. It belongs to the country’s orders for specialised fields, which are awarded to people distinguished in a particular area, in this case in education and research. The recipient need not be a citizen of Burkina Faso, but the order is awarded to foreigners only in exceptional cases. Promotion to a higher grade of the order is made no sooner than five years later, and only if the recipient’s achievements in education and research have continued.
