Order of Maximo Gomez

The Order of Máximo Gómez (Orden Máximo Gómez) is a Cuban decoration, divided into two grades, awarded to active-duty, reserve, or retired members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, to civilian citizens, or to military personnel from friendly countries, for extraordinary merits in the defense of the socialist homeland, for distinction in directing major military operations, or for having brilliantly commanded the fronts or columns of the Rebel Army. It commemorates the military leader of the War of Independence, Máximo Gómez (1836–1905).
