Ehrenzeichen für hervorragende Leistungen im Feuerwehrdienst

The Honorary Badge for Outstanding Achievement in Firefighting Service (Ehrenzeichen für hervorragende Leistungen im Feuerwehrdienst) was instituted by the Bavarian State Government on 1 July 1920.

The oval medal, initially made of cast iron (bronze from 1923), shows a fire helmet in the center, surrounded by foliage. On the reverse is the inscription FOR OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE FIRE SERVICE.

The award was presented on a carmine-red ribbon to members of a professional fire brigade, and on a ribbon with seven sky-blue and six white stripes to members of a volunteer fire brigade.

The award was worn on the ribbon on the left breast.
