The Commemorative Medal on the Occasion of the Forest Fire Disaster in August 1975 is an award of the state of Lower Saxony. It was instituted on 3 November 1975 by the then Minister of the Interior, Rötger Groß, under Minister-President Alfred Kubel, in commemoration of the assistance provided during the forest fire disaster in August 1975, which affected the districts of Celle, Gifhorn and Lüchow-Dannenberg in Lower Saxony.
