Veteranenabzeichen

The Bundeswehr Veteran Badge is a badge awarded for former or ongoing active military service. It is intended to represent veterans in public life, in recognition of faithful service to society.

Similar awards are also customary in other countries. In the United States, comparable service is recognized with the Army Service Ribbon, and in Austria with the Military Service Medal. Unlike the awards in the United States or Austria, however, the Veteran Badge is not an honorary decoration within the meaning of the Law on Titles, Orders and Decorations and may therefore not be worn on Bundeswehr uniforms.
