The Order of Merit of Benin is a Beninese honorary order, created on 24 October 1961 in Dahomey by Hubert Maga. It is the country's second-highest honorary distinction, directly after the National Order of Benin.
Administered by the Grand Chancellery of the National Order of Benin, it rewards any civilian or military person who has contributed to the development of Benin, as well as those who have rendered services or performed exceptional actions in the public interest in any field, “particularly in the creation of the arts, economic development [and] the promotion of popular culture”.
The Order of Merit of Benin comprises three grades: Knight, Officer and Commander.
