The Ifni-Sahara Medal [Medalla de Ifni-Sáhara] was a Spanish decoration created by a Decree of the Presidency of the Government dated 4 July 1958, signed by Francisco Franco and Admiral Luis Carrero Blanco, and published in issue 168 of the Official State Gazette, on pages 1,263 and 1,264, on 15 July 1958. It was intended to express “the satisfaction of the country and the Armies with the outcome of the military operations carried out in the territories of Spanish West Africa” (the Ifni War). Although awards ceased to be made some years later, it was not formally abolished until 2003, by Royal Decree 1040/2003.
