The Medal of the Region of Murcia [Medalla de la Región de Murcia] is a Spanish civil decoration awarded by this autonomous community alongside other honours and distinctions. Its purpose is to reward artistic, scientific, cultural, sporting, healthcare or other activities considered significant. It is governed by the Law of 8 November 1985 on honours, decorations and distinctions of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia (Official State Gazette of 1 February 1986 and Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia, issue 264, of 19 November 1985).
The Medal of the Region of Murcia has two different categories: gold medal and silver medal.
With the exception of members of the royal family, it may not be awarded to any Spanish authority or authority of the region itself while they are still in active service. This decoration is honorary and does not give rise to any financial benefit. It is awarded by decree of the Governing Council of this autonomous community, and publication in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia is mandatory.
