The Order of Merit of the National Plan on Drugs is a Spanish civil distinction established by Royal Decree 2023/1995 of 22 December, supplemented by the Order of 24 January 1996 and the Order of 24 October 1997. It is intended to reward individuals and public or private organizations, from Spain or abroad, who stand out for the significance of their activities, commitment, exemplary conduct in society, and the real effectiveness of activities carried out in prevention, assistance, and reintegration in the field of drug addiction and those affected by it. This decoration is also awarded to members of the Security Forces and Corps and to the competent Spanish bodies and services for carrying out acts of importance or risk, solidarity, and constant dedication to preventing and controlling the supply or illicit trafficking of drugs and narcotics, or the profits illicitly obtained from such activity.
