The President Macià Medal for Work is a distinction awarded by the Government of the Generalitat of Catalonia in recognition of people who have stood out for their personal qualities or merits, or for services rendered in the interest of the general good within the world of work. The President Macià Plaque for Work is awarded in recognition of companies or organizations.
These medals and plaques bear the name of President Francesc Macià and were created in 1938 to reward work-related merits, both of individual workers and of companies. Any person or entity may be nominated for these awards, provided that the nomination is made by one of the Departments of the Generalitat, or at the request of a person or entity engaged in business, trade union, social or similar activities.
The awards are made annually, and the names of the people and entities receiving this distinction are published in the Official Gazette of the Government of Catalonia.
The original design of the commemorative medal was created by Manuel Capdevila Massana, winner of the competition called in 1981 by the Design Council of the Government of Catalonia.
