The Shield of Loyalty (Schild der Treue; Spanish: Escudo de fidelidad) was an award instituted by King Ferdinand VII of Spain. It was instituted on 14 December 1823.
The purpose of the award was to honour people for their proven loyalty and steadfastness during the Trienio Liberal from 1820 to 1823. Leaving one’s homeland, the defence of religion, and the defence of the state played a role. It could be awarded to civilians and military personnel who had shown great bravery and particular loyalty to the ruler.
By decree, the bestowal of the award was revoked on 24 January 1824.
