The commemorative medal of the Battle of the Somme, struck by the Paris Mint, is a French associative decoration intended to distinguish French or allied soldiers who took part in the battles of the Somme during the two world wars: 1914–18 and 1940. It was created on 1 July 1956 to bring together veterans in the association “Those of the Somme” [Ceux de la Somme].
