The French Fidelity Medal is a French medal of honor established on 3 July 1922.
The medal was created to express the French government’s gratitude to Alsatians and Lorrainers imprisoned or exiled for their patriotism.
The concept of “French fidelity” was in vogue in the 19th and 20th centuries and referred to the attachment of former colonies to the mother country, a concept that has today been broadened by that of Francophonie. In Canada, there is a similar medal called the Order of French Fidelity.
