Altyn belgi

Altyn Belgi [Алтын белгі] (Kazakh: Altyn Belgi — “golden sign”) is a breast badge awarded to academic high achievers in the education system of Kazakhstan (equivalent to a Gold Medal). It was approved by Resolution No. 1253 of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 21, 2007. A graduate must have annual grades of “5” from grades 5 through 11 and confirm eligibility by passing the state examinations at school for the general secondary education course with excellent grades.

Students awarded the “Altyn Belgi” badge have preferential right to receive state educational grants (or, if grants are unavailable, loans) under the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan when they receive the same score on the Unified National Testing as other applicants.
