The Chain of Mubarak was established in 1974. Emir Sabah bin Salim Al-Sabah established the order in a single class so that Kuwait would have a suitable decoration for heads of state and members of royal families.
The chain consists of twenty links in the form of white-enamelled gold stars bearing the inscription “Al Sabah” and ten blue medallions depicting a dhow, a typical Kuwaiti type of vessel. The badge suspended from the chain depicts a falcon bearing the coat of arms of Kuwait on its breast.
The star is identical to the badge but is worn on the left breast.
The order is also awarded to distinguished foreign visitors.
