Those who, without being subject to conscription and without receiving enlistment money, had entered service for the Ten Days’ Campaign were awarded the Metal Cross for Volunteers 1830–1831 (Metalen Kruis Vrijwilligers 1830-1831) in 1831. It was instituted by Royal Decree No. 70 of King William I, dated 12 September 1831, and awarded to all who had voluntarily taken part in military operations in the years 1830 and 1831.
