The Ponceau-Red Honor Cord (Ponceaurood KL-erekoord) is a Dutch recognition decoration of the Royal Netherlands Army.
The Ponceau-Red Honor Cord is an individual recognition decoration consisting of a woven ponceau-red cord (aiguillette) with a gold aiguillette pin, worn on the left shoulder. Military personnel receive an honor cord when they distinguish themselves through exceptional conduct, extraordinary effort, dedication, or commendable action.
The aiguillette may be worn only with the daily uniform (DT), the ceremonial uniform (GLT), and the evening dress uniform (AT).
In the early years, the aiguillette was worn on the sweater and with the daily uniform (DT), and only in the substantive rank in which the recipient received the “honor cord.” On promotion, the recipient lost the right to wear it. This rule was revoked in the 1990s. The Ponceau-Red Honor Cord may also be worn after promotion.
