The Silver Honor Cord (Zilveren erekoord) is a Dutch military distinction for meritorious service.
The Silver Honor Cord is an individual distinction for meritorious service associated with the Sculpture for Operational Conduct (Sculptuur Operationeel Optreden). It consists of a ponceau-red cord woven with silver thread (aiguillette), with a silver aiguillette tip, worn on the left shoulder. Military personnel receive an honor cord when they distinguish themselves through exceptional conduct, extraordinary effort, dedication or commendable actions.
The aiguillette may be worn only with the Daily Dress (DT), Occasion Dress (GLT) and Evening Dress (AT).
In October 2011, the Commander of the Royal Netherlands Army presented the Sculpture for the first time, in Havelte. This second-highest individual distinction within the Royal Netherlands Army is awarded for particularly commendable conduct during operational deployment.
On the advice of the Commission for Bravery Decorations, the Commander of the Royal Netherlands Army established an additional distinction, so that it would be visible on the recipient’s uniform or veterans’ dress that he or she had been awarded the Sculpture.
