The Norwegian Armed Forces Medal for International Operations (Forsvarets medalje for internasjonale operasjoner) is a Norwegian military medal established on 9 October 2000. The medal was created because it was considered desirable to honor with a medal the many people who have participated, and had participated, in Norwegian international operations since the Second World War. From 2009, the medal with a gold laurel branch could be used as a combat decoration for courage and bravery in situations without combat contact. This practice was discontinued by amendments to the statutes in 2011. The medal is awarded by the Chief of Defence.
