“KeBawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan dan Yang di-Pertuan Negara Pahang Dar ul-Makmur,” or “King and Prince of Pahang,” Paduka Sri Baginda Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah al-Musta'in Billah ibni al-Marhum Sultan Sir Abu Bakar Riayat ud-din al-Mu'azzam Shah, founded four orders of chivalry.
The oldest and highest of these orders of chivalry is the “Most Exalted Royal Family Order of Pahang” (Darjah Kerabat Yang Maha Mulia Utama Kerabat di-Raja Pahang). The order was instituted on 24 October 1977 by Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah. He was born in 1930 and crowned in 1974.
The order has a single grade:
Grand Commander
The Grand Commanders, or “Darjah Kerabat Pahang,” wear a gold chain with the order’s five-pointed star attached. They wear the order’s star on the left breast. They may place the letters DKP after their names.
It might be considered a house order, but the decoration is awarded not only to members of the royal family and other princes, but also to senior state officials.
