The Hamad bin Khalifa Sash (وشاح حمد بن خليفة) is a high-ranking civil national order and sovereign honour awarded by the State of Qatar. The sash is ranked second in the order of precedence of Qatari civil decorations, immediately after the “Sword of the Founder, Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani” and before the “Dagger of Abdullah bin Jassim”. The sash bears the name of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, a pioneer of the country’s modern renaissance, and is awarded by direct Amiri decree to crown princes and deputy heads of state, prime ministers, heads of legislative bodies, members of regency councils, deputy prime ministers, ministers and those of equivalent rank. It may also be awarded to those who perform valuable services, whether to the state or to humanity.
