The Cross of Civil Honor (Zivil-Ehrenkreuz) of the two lines of the House of Reuss was instituted for domestic court and state officials.
For the younger line of Reuss, it was instituted by Heinrich LXVII. The date of institution was 20 October 1857. About 11 months later, on 15 September 1858, Prince Heinrich XX instituted this identically named decoration for the elder line.
