The Order of the Cross of Queen Maria (Ordinul „Crucea Regina Maria”) was a Romanian wartime and peacetime decoration, instituted by King Ferdinand by Royal Decree No. 85 of February 15, 1917, and ratified by Law 201 of March 17 of the same year. The order was intended to reward “persons (ladies and gentlemen) who have distinguished themselves in sanitary matters.”
The order was first awarded in 1917.
Over time, the conditions for awarding it were modified several times. After the end of the Second World War, the order was abolished by the communist authorities.
