The Cross of the Royal House of Romania (Crucea Casei Regale a României) is an award conferred by the Royal House of Romania, whose current head is Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Crown. The award was instituted by King Michael I on May 10, 2008, at Elisabeta Palace, and is limited to 200 living individuals, either from Romania or from abroad. The award is intended for members and associates of the Royal House who hold important positions in the administration, civil society, political or economic spheres, the worlds of culture or diplomacy, as well as in national or international organizations. Holders of the Cross of the Royal House celebrate this distinction annually on March 26, the day on which Carol I became King of Romania by a vote of the representatives of the nation.
