The Medal “For Work in the Emancipation of the Peasants” («За труды по освобождению крестьян») was a medal of the Russian Empire, established in 1861 to commemorate the implementation of the peasant reform. The medal had two versions—gold and silver—intended for different categories of recipients. It was awarded to officials who drafted the reform and worked on its implementation. Awards continued at least until 1875. A total of approximately 1,500 silver and 250 gold medals were minted. The medal was worn on the Alexander Ribbon; the right to wear it was subsequently made hereditary.
