The Medal “For Services Rendered in the Army” («За заслуги, оказанные в войске») was a medal of the Russian Empire, established by decree of Catherine II in 1771 for participants in a military campaign along the Dnieper and the Black Sea and a combat raid beyond the Danube. The medal was struck in silver in 1773. About 1,000 medals were made in total. P. A. Rumyantsev initiated the issue of the medal. It depicts a portrait of Catherine II and bears the inscription: “For services rendered in the army.” The medals were worn on the St. Andrew’s ribbon.
