The Yu. A. Gagarin Medal is a departmental distinction of the State Corporation for Space Activities “Roscosmos.”
It was established by Order No. 302 of the State Corporation for Space Activities “Roscosmos” dated December 29, 2016, “On the Distinctions of the State Corporation for Space Activities ‘Roscosmos.’”
The medal was introduced to replace the departmental distinction of the Russian Federal Space Agency, the “Gagarin Badge,” as part of the reform of the departmental awards system.
