Departmental distinctions of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation are departmental awards of the Russian Federation’s federal executive body, the Ministry of Defence.

Departmental distinctions of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation serve as recognition of the special personal merits and distinguished service of military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation; of the faultless and effective performance of state civil service; of the conscientious performance of work duties by civilian personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation; and of assistance in accomplishing the tasks assigned to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation by other citizens of the Russian Federation and foreign citizens.

Under the 2008 regulations, departmental distinctions were considered to include Ministry of Defence medals and other distinctions of the Armed Forces whose regulations specified their status as departmental distinctions.
