The Commemorative Medal for the 1912 War (Споменица на рат 1912. године), or the Commemorative Medal for the Serbian-Turkish War of 1912, popularly known as Kosovo Avenged, was a decoration of the Kingdom of Serbia and the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. The medal was established on 31 October 1913 to commemorate the First Balkan War, in which Serbia was victorious. It was awarded to all those who took part and contributed to the war effort through their actions. More than 400,000 examples of this decoration were awarded upon its establishment.
The designer of the medal is not formally known, but most researchers agree that it was very probably the artist Đorđe Čarapić. The law also provided for the awarding of certificates, but because the First World War broke out soon afterward, this was not carried out, and no certificate awarded with the medal is known to exist. The first series of medals was produced by the Swiss firm Huguenin Brothers, while later series were produced in other workshops, including the Paris firm Artus Bertrand. Under the proposal for the medal adopted earlier, the sculptor Ivan Meštrović was to create its design, but his proposal was rejected.
