The Badge “For Excellence in Health Care” (Значок «Отличнику здравоохранения») was a departmental award of the Ministry of Health of the USSR, awarded in the Soviet Union from 1939 to 1991.
The Badge “For Excellence in Health Care” was first established in the USSR by the People’s Commissariat of Health in 1939. It was subsequently established in the USSR by the Ministry of Health on January 7, 1956. Sixteen years later, with the aim of standardizing awards, an updated order of the Ministry of Health, dated September 7, 1972, No. 746, “On Approval of the Instructions on the Procedure for Awarding the Badge ‘For Excellence in Health Care,’” was issued, signed by Minister B. V. Petrovsky.
