The Bravery Medal was created during the reign of King Ananda Mahidol, Rama VIII. It was created in B.E. 2484, abbreviated ร.ก., under the Royal Decree on the Bravery Medal B.E. 2484, to be awarded as a reward for bravery in place of the Dushdi Mala Medal, Bravery Needle. Later, the law concerning the Bravery Medal was revised by repealing the original law and enacting the Bravery Medal Act B.E.
