Hero of Ukraine, Order of the State

The title of Hero of Ukraine is a state award of Ukraine, the highest degree of distinction in Ukraine, bestowed on citizens of Ukraine for performing an outstanding heroic deed or achieving an outstanding work-related accomplishment. A Hero of Ukraine is presented with the Order of the Golden Star for performing an outstanding heroic deed, or the Order of the State for extraordinary work-related achievements.

The title of Hero of Ukraine may, as an exception, be awarded posthumously to a foreigner who has been awarded the Order of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes, for performing an outstanding heroic deed connected with defending the constitutional principles of democracy and human rights and freedoms during the Revolution of Dignity (November 2013 – February 2014).
