The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s Honorary Badge “Silver Cross” (Почесний нагрудний знак Головнокомандувача ЗСУ «Срібний хрест») is an award of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The “Silver Cross” badge is awarded to officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for successfully planning and carrying out tasks while commanding personnel in combat. In exceptional cases (when an officer is absent or has been killed), the badge may be awarded to enlisted personnel, sergeants, and warrant officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who performed the duties of a commander and assumed responsibility and command of personnel while carrying out combat missions and/or conducting combat operations.
The badge may be awarded repeatedly, but the total number of awards may not exceed three. For a repeat award, the recipient is presented with a metal depiction of a diamond-shaped “Star” insignia, which is placed on the badge’s ribbon.
As a rule, the badge is awarded to people who have previously received the “Steel Cross” badge, or when a person has performed an outstanding deed.
