The Army Achievement Medal is an Achievement Medal of the United States Armed Forces, awarded for military merit to enlisted personnel, non-commissioned officers and junior officers when the Army Commendation Medal is not applicable.
All the military branches have their own Achievement Medal; the Army Achievement Medal is intended for military service in the United States Army.
The first Achievement Medals were established by the United States Navy and the United States Coast Guard in 1961. The Army Achievement Medal has existed since 1981.
Multiple awards are represented by gold or silver oak leaf clusters.
In the Order of Precedence, Achievement Medals rank below Commendation Medals, such as the Joint Service Commendation Medal or the Army Commendation Medal, and above the Commandant’s Letter of Commendation and Combat Action Ribbons.
