The Silver Jubilee Medal of Sultan Sir Khalifa bin Harub of Zanzibar was instituted on 9 January 1937 to mark the celebration of the Sultan’s 25th anniversary.
The obverse bears a portrait of Sultan Khalifa bin Harub within an Arabic circular inscription and the dates “1911–1936”. The Muslim ruler thus chose to use a reference to the Christian calendar.
The round medal is worn on the left breast, suspended from a purplish-red ribbon with two broad pearl-gray edges and two narrow pearl-gray central stripes.
