The “President of the Republic” Decoration (Condecoración «Presidente de la República») is one of the common decorations of the Armed Forces and National Defense of Chile. It is awarded by the President of the Republic to members of the Armed Forces, national or foreign civilians, or foreign military personnel deemed deserving of such distinction. It is usually awarded particularly to officers of the Armed Forces in recognition of their professional dedication, ability, and effort.
It was created in 1957 under the government of General Carlos Ibáñez del Campo, by Supreme Decree (War) S. 1 No. 62 of February 23 of that year. It took its current form through Supreme Decree No. 461 of 2016.
