Estrella Militar de las Fuerzas Armadas

The Military Star of the Armed Forces (Estrella Militar de las Fuerzas Armadas) is a decoration established to be awarded to officers of the Armed Forces of Chile upon completing a specified number of years of service, and to officers of foreign armed forces for distinguished service.

Officers who are under arrest, sanctioned with availability status, suspended from their positions, subject to judicial proceedings, or placed on List 3 or 4 are not entitled to this decoration until they have subsequently been cleared or reinstated. This situation must be evaluated by the relevant institutional decorations council, chaired by the respective commander-in-chief.

Leave for personal matters without pay is not counted toward the award of the decoration, even if the corresponding pension contributions have been paid.
