The Artis Bohemiae Amicis Medal [Friends of Czech Art] is a Czech ministerial award—a medal and diploma—with which Ministers of Culture have, since 2000, recognized significant individuals, both natural and legal persons, who have purposefully contributed or are contributing to promoting the good name of Czech culture at home and abroad.
The medal is awarded for services in the systematic presentation and understanding of tangible and intangible cultural heritage in the Czech Republic and beyond its borders, or in the systematic presentation and understanding of contemporary works of music, literature, including nonfiction and poetry, drama and scenography, film and photography, as well as works of fine and applied art, including design, artistic and folk crafts, and art-historical works; it is also awarded for the systematic presentation of contemporary Czech performing arts. The medal’s design in its form dating from 2010 was created by MgA. Adam Kovalčík.
For foreign recipients, the Czech diplomatic mission (ZÚ) in the country concerned arranges the presentation of the award.
