The Amílcar Cabral Medal is the highest decoration of Guinea-Bissau. It is named in memory of the independence leader Amílcar Cabral (1924–1973). It is awarded to prominent figures who have contributed to the creation and strengthening of the state of Guinea-Bissau.
It may be awarded posthumously and to foreign nationals, and it may also be received more than once: Lula da Silva received it in 2004 and again in 2010. Some recipients have been Fernando Henrique Cardoso (1997), Joaquim Chissano (2002), Fidel Castro (2007), Pedro Pires (2010), Malam Bacai Sanhá (2011), 26 Cubans who fought voluntarily for the independence of Guinea-Bissau (2011), Aristides Pereira (2011), and Abdullah II of Jordan (2023).
