The Order of the Holy Crown [Magyar Szent Korona Rend] was founded informally in 1942 by Miklós Horthy, Regent of Hungary and head of state, was provided with statutes on 3 March 1943, and was intended exclusively for award to foreigners who had rendered services to the country. For example, Joachim von Ribbentrop received the Grand Cross with Swords in 1944.
