The Disaster Response Service Badge (Katasztrófaelhárításért Szolgálati Jel) is an award conferred by the Minister of Defence. It recognizes outstanding efforts made in responding to environmental damage caused by natural and industrial disasters. The decoration was established by a 2010 Ministry of Defence decree by Minister of Defence Csaba Hende for personnel of the Hungarian Defence Forces following the Ajka red mud disaster. Under Ministry of Defence Decree 15/2013 (VIII. 22), personnel who took part in the “Green Flood – 2013” operation and received a “Certificate” on the basis of their service may wear the ribbon bar of the Disaster Response Service Badge.
