The Service Decoration (עיטור השירות) is the fourth-most important decoration among the Israel Police decorations, awarded by the Commissioner to a police officer for:
If a recipient of the decoration repeats an act for which they merit a decoration of the same type, they receive an additional clasp for the decoration instead. Unlike the other police decorations, the Service Decoration may be awarded only to a member of the police.
The decoration is awarded following the completion of a graduated process of recommendations and approvals, beginning with the person making the recommendation, followed by the district commander or the head of the relevant division, who forwards their recommendation to the Decorations Committee. The Decorations Committee conducts a process of examining the recommendations, findings, and testimony relating to the incident for which the recommendation was submitted, and forwards its conclusions to the Commissioner, who makes the final decision on the matter.
If the recipient of the decoration is deceased, it may be awarded to a close family member.
