The Medal of Merit for Aviation Pioneers (Medaglia di benemerenza per i Pionieri dell'Aeronautica) was established by the Kingdom of Italy by Royal Decree No. 429 of 1941, with the aim of granting a certificate of national merit to those who had first devoted their efforts to the conquest of the skies.
The award was established after the Brotherhood “Aviation Pioneers” (Fratellanza «Pionieri dell'Aeronautica») had been declared a public-benefit organization by Royal Decree No. 2369 of 1925.
