The Medal of Honour for Italian Citizens Deported and Interned in Nazi Camps, 1943–1945 (Medaglia d'onore ai cittadini italiani deportati e internati nei lager nazisti 1943-1945) is a decoration intended to honour all Italian citizens deported and interned in Nazi camps during the Second World War, between 1943 and 1945, with reference both to Italian Military Internees (Internati Militari Italiani; Italienische Militär-Internierte, IMI) and to civilians.
Law No. 296 of 27 December 2006, which established the honorary distinction, provides for the “award of a medal of honour to Italian citizens, military personnel and civilians, deported and interned in Nazi camps and assigned to forced labour for the war economy, who, if military personnel, were denied prisoner-of-war status, and to the family members of the deceased, who are entitled to submit an application for recognition of forced-labourer status”.
