The Star of Merit for Schools was a decoration established by the Italian Government under Law No. 975 of 1939, amended by Law No. 844 of 1940, and was intended “for those who in any way distinguish themselves through particularly effective work in support of schools.”
The same law also established the merit award for the arts and the merit award for public education.
The recognition was abolished by Law No. 1093 of 1950.
