The Order of Military Valor [Wisam al-Iqdam al-Askari] was established by King Abdullah of Jordan in 1946 and is compared with the British Victoria Cross or the Dutch Military William Order. The rarely awarded distinction has three grades and is awarded only for acts of great bravery in the face of the enemy.
The order is also awarded posthumously. When the distinction was established, it was made only in bronze, but later a silver Second Class and a chrome First Class were introduced.

The insignia of the order
The badge is a medal bearing the effigy of King Abdullah, surrounded by the words “King Abdullah ibn al-Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan” in Arabic. The reverse depicts the Al-Aqsa Mosque, surrounded by the words “Wisam al-Iqdam al-Askari”. The ribbon is made of watered green silk.
