The Imperial Tour Medal (or Commemorative Medal of the Imperial Tour) [Médaille de la Tournée Impériale] is an honorary distinction of the Korean Empire, established by Emperor Yunghui. This medal was instituted in 1909; it commemorates the visit by Emperor Emperor Yunghui to the western and southern parts of Korea. This tour was probably an attempt to consolidate the emperor’s position in the face of increasing Japanese pressure.
It was probably awarded to members of the emperor’s entourage, certain people associated with the visit project, and local officials in the areas visited.
This medal consists of two classes: the 1st class is for the emperor and his family, and the 2nd class is for nobles and commoners.
